NEW RELEASE: BPR003 – J-Hilla – River Runs Red EP + MORE!

April 17, 2012

We’re excited to unveil our first Banana Peel release from a member of the Boston community outside of the Banana Peel camp. We first came across J-Hilla through one of our friends and immediately were impressed with his production skills and his appreciation for that classic UK dubstep sound we love so much. An up and comer on the scene, J-Hilla has been known to throw down with the Boston Subduction and Unhearduv crews, but the sky’s the limit for this promising new talent, and this release marks the first of several releases this young producer has up his sleeve. Do not miss your opportunity to hear his bold debut release, as he pushes the Banana Peel catalogue towards the future.

We’ve now expanded our Banana Peel Mix series on Soundcloud, and have archived ALL of our previous Banana Peel Mixes right here!

NEW RELEASE: BPR002 – Pachanga EP from Elkid + MORE

November 17, 2011

Banana Peel is proud to announce their second release from label co-founder Elkid (Zani Doumbia). A hard hitting split single, Pachanga EP showcases this up and coming producers diverse talent across two tracks of well manicured house and bass sounds. Elkid has been making a name for himself DJing at some of Boston’s premier clubs and parties, such as Make it New at Middlesex Lounge, and his own residency Sweet Shop at Goodlife, alongside artists such as J. Phlip, Tittsworth, and DJ Pierre. This release marks the production debut of promising young selector in what is to be the first of a string of single releases.  His distinctive sets of forward thinking house have helped establish Banana Peel’s prominence in the local scene, and these tracks, alongside the budding career of Doctor Jeep, are helping to make this label a force beyond their own home city.

We’re also excited to re-issue Doctor Jeep’s Yr Mnd EP with stunning new artwork from David Tschiegg. David did the artwork for not only this release, but Elkid’s release, as well as ALL Banana Peel design work. Like our logo? Let him know! (http://tschiegg.com/)

Together Festival! (plus extra news)

April 11, 2011

We’re very excited to announce that Doctor Jeep, Elkid, and Fens will be opening up for some of our favorite producers, SBTRKT and Incyde, as a part of the Together Festival. Both represent two of the hottest labels working right now, Young Turks and Hotflush, both of which have been putting out some of the best material we’ve heard in a long while, and this night is sure to be nothing short of amazing. Check out the facebook event for the night here. This is especially important to us because it will be one of our rare 18+ appearances. Speaking of 18+….

We’ll be holding down the lounge all night at RISE this Friday, April 15th. The entire crew (including Doctor Jeep, even though his name’s not on the flyer) will be keeping it steady at Boston’s best 18+ plus dance venue. The sound here is simply amazing, and the vibe is for dedicated electronic music fans. As a late-night venue, it is host to some of the most proper events in the city, and welcomes everyone, there’s never a dress code either. You’ll need to get on the guestlist however, which you can do by checking out the facebook event. This promises to be a great night as well, and we strongly encourage those who have never been to RISE before, to check it out. You won’t want to miss this experience.

Stay tuned for exciting news we have coming about some major headliners we’re bringing in for parties in May, and beyond!
